John Rotten Lydon’s Public Image Ltd (PiL) are pleased to announce a one-off concert at London’s O2 Indigo on Saturday, December 13th 2014. This is the first PiL show since October 2013 and their only show of 2014.
PiL are currently preparing to enter the studio to record their 10th studio album, the follow-up to their critically and publicly acclaimed 2012 album, 'This is PiL' (which had been the band's first album in 20 years and was released via their own PiL Official Ltd label). The new PiL album will be recorded in late 2014 with a tentative release date of summer 2015 planned. The band will be taking time off from the studio to play this special one-off show.
Widely regarded as one of the most innovative and influential bands of all time PiL's music and vision earned them 5 UK Top 20 Singles and 5 UK Top 20 Albums. With a shifting line-up and unique sound John Lydon guided the band from their debut album 'First Issue' in 1978 through to 1992's 'That What Is Not', before a 17 year hiatus. Lydon then reactivated PiL in 2009 playing live worldwide.
The established line-up of John Lydon (vocals) / Lu Edmonds (guitar & misc) / Bruce Smith (drums) and Scott Firth (bass) is the longest of any PiL line-up; with Lu Edmonds and Bruce Smith also previously serving with the band in the '80s.
John Lydon: After fronting the Sex Pistols, John Lydon formed Public Image Ltd in 1978. Outside of PiL John has released several solo records and collaborations. He also brings quality TV to the masses.
Lu Edmonds: Multi instrumentalist and former guitarist in The Damned Lu joined PiL in 1986 recording and playing on the album Happy? and co-writing the album ‘9’ adding yet another dimension to the PiL sound.
Bruce Smith: Former drummer in The Pop Group and The Slits became percussionist for PiL also in 1986 playing and recording on the albums Happy? and ‘9’. Seen as a drumming virtuoso, Bruce Smith brought his unique style into the fold.
Scott Firth: A bass player/multi instrumentalist that has collaborated and played with a variety of top musicians and bands including Steve Winwood, John Martyn, Elvis Costello, and The Spice Girls. Scott’s arrival into the band in 2009 resulted in John Lydon declaring him “Genius at work!”
